History: Hewie lived all his life with his older brother, who was a Cloyster named Derek, in the small place of Dewford Town. The two of them shared an inseparable bond together, Derek being a loving protective cool older brother, Hewie the smaller but smarter little brother. Hewie was always inspired by his big brother. Derek was cool, had a bunch of friends, and was super tough, in Hewie's eyes. While Derek would go out on adventures out at sea, Hewie would stay home and cook, clean, and happily await his brother's return.

These brothers shares many differences, one of them being that Hewie loved knowledge. Shellder weren't exactly known to be bright Pokemon, but Hewie simply loved the idea of a mystery, or some kind of unknown phenomenon, hidden treasure, you name it! Although, he hated going outside, as well. He would gather all information he could by reading books, hearing stories from others, and the thought of all the mystery out in the world exited him.

Hewie's first adventure outside of Dewford Town took place inside Granite Cave.

It was fascinating! Thrilling! Exhilarating! His first adventure. All on his own! He obviously told his brother about this event- he did not want to be foolish like those other childish explorers who go out on their own and end up getting in trouble. Derek was sure that Hewie would be fine on his own, being that everyone has to grow up at some point. This was just Hewie's first step out into the unknown, kinda.

It was then that Hewie also had his first Pokemon battle!

Even so, things went along smoothly. Hewie was getting comfortable, as he traveled deeper and deeper into the dark cave. Soon, he could barely see what was in front of him. As scary as it was, it was super interesting! He just had to get to the end. Solve the mystery of Granite Cave! At the deepest floor, two rooms underground, Hewie reached the end. He had explored the whole cave. In excitement, he threw his arms up in the air, letting out a small cry of victory. This was just one small cave conquered, soon, he'd be like his big brother and explore the depths of the seas! He couldn't wait to go back outside and tell his brother all about what he saw. As he turned to leave, that's when he saw them. Two brilliantly shined blue gems, circular-like in shape, sitting closely next to each other straight ahead of him in the darkness. Curious, Hewie moved closer. The blue gems, he saw, actually had a smaller, rounder gem just below them, coloured red. Why didn't he see these before? Perhaps treasure! Hewie walked towards them, only to be greeted with an odd hissing sound. Pausing, he realized they weren't just gems! As he once read in one of his books- those gems were attached to a Sableye! Realizing his danger, Hewie fled. Still unable to see, he ran blindly in the dark, only occasionally bumping into a wall or two. He could swear he could feel the Sableye at his back, chasing him like two children playing tag.

Hewie managed to climb up and out of the darkest depths, leaving the Sableye behind. Granted with full sight, Hewie left Granite Cave, to tell his brother of his adventure.

Despite the scare from the Sableye, he knew this was just page one of his book! Hewie would soon discover a whole bunch of mysteries, travel to many places, and read as many books as he could manage. Hewie would sometimes write about his daily findings in a small journal, to keep track of his little mysteries. Derek soon had a hard time keeping track of Hewie, since he was always out and about studying wildlife or running off on some claim of a "new mystery"

As Hewie grew old enough, Derek decided to send an application for Hewie to enter Armonia. Derek himself never got much schooling, but he knew his little brother had a talent for knowledge, and he needed to get off Dewford and branch out to new areas for more mysteries. It would be a big step for Hewie, but he was always up for a new adventure.

Just before Hewie left, his brother handed him a rusted, golden pocket watch. It was completely useless, other than for show. It was a bright and shiny gold, except for one side, which was damaged from salt water, tinting the golden metal a greenish and brown. Derek never did explain what it was for, all he said to Hewie was that Derek found it once on an Abandoned Ship at sea. Where it came from, who owned it, why it was there, not even Derek knew. He left that little mystery up to Hewie to discover.

Summary characteristic: Highly curious.

Hobbies/Personality: Hewie absolutely loves to read! He'll read books of all kinds, his favorites being mystery, sci-fi, and adventure books. (He cant stand romance books, though.) Hewie loves to write often, and sometimes doodle a bit, but he says he has no talent, that they're just "rough sketches" He likes the idea of exploring as well, although he can get scared very easily. Hewie also loves the ocean, so he loves to swim whenever he can. Its particularly hard for him to talk to people, so Hewie tends to go out on his own. But if someone approaches him, he'll gladly take up a conversation! (Beware that he doesn't start to ramble about mysteries again..)

Extra: A lot of the time, Hewie cant exactly "control" his tongue, as strange as it sounds. Most of the time he's seen with it sticking out, but he always finds it silly or embarrassing, so he tries to hide it. He cant help but stick his tongue out though when he's nervous, scared, startled, or really relaxed. Just because of his tongue (and because he's just plain shy) he doesn't talk very often, if not at all.

Also, Hewie doesn't like his shell very much. One is placed on his head, the other is on his lower back. He rarely takes off his hoodie, and if he absolutely has to, he'll try hiding or staying out of sight, or putting a hat on.

Hewie also tends to bruise easily! His skin is very smooth, completely black, but also very soft and he tends to bruise super easily. Hence why he doesn't like going outside often.
